Hey guys, thanks for stopping by for another addition of Bible Breadcrumbs. If you are new here, welcome! Be sure to check out my about section if you would like to learn more about me and my journey with Christ. Before we kick this new year off, I want to start out with a little prayer for you in hopes that you will join me and allow God to move you as you continue to read.
Father God, I thank You for Your grace and mercy, and for allowing me this opportunity to reach Your people. I pray over this blog, Father, and ask You to take the lead in everything I say. I pray Your Spirit will move over each person reading and help them gain revelation, understanding, clarity, and closeness with You. Guide every heart and soul to You and stir their hearts to give their lives to Your Son, Jesus Christ, who by Your grace, made all of this possible. It is in His name I pray, Amen.
Now that we have touched on the most important part of anything we do, let’s do a recap. In 2024, I started this blog to spread the hope of Jesus Christ and to inspire growth and change within me as well. Life was busy and, to be transparent, I wasn’t as focused as I should have been. That is all about to change. It is my prayer that 2025 would bring even more growth as my blog reaches more and more people. I know God will go before me and I give this blog into His hands.
God laid it on my heart the importance of staying in His word and I want you to follow along with me as we explore this topic together. If you don’t know already, God’s word, the Holy Bible, is the main way He speaks to us. There are many other ways, but God’s word is Him speaking directly to His people. The Bible has everything we need in order to know God and we want to make sure we are respecting His word by giving it our time and attention. Let’s explore why reading the word of God is important.
“All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.” (2 Timothy 3:16-17)
The Holy Bible comprised of 66 different books and 40 different authors is the breathed-out word of God. If the Creator of the universe took the time to write His own biography, wouldn’t that be something everyone should take the time to read? Absolutely! Yet many of us have a hard time setting aside the time to read a few scriptures, let alone conduct an in-depth study. I’m speaking to myself on this too.
Reading our Bible every day helps us grow closer to God. When you spend time getting to know someone, you naturally develop a relationship with that person. God created us to be social creatures because it is His desire that we know Him and have a relationship with Him. He made that easy by inspiring His written word, so that we could get to know His nature and character and have a better understanding as to why He created us in the first place.
Daily Bible reading helps us understand there is hope. When Eve ate from the tree of knowledge of good and evil, she cursed the entire human race with death and sin. None of us are good, regardless of how much we like to believe we are. We all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God and since He is a good God, He is a just God also. If you were to stand before a judge guilty of a crime, if he was a good judge, he would sentence you with the punishment befitting the crime. Because our punishment was so great, God sent Jesus Christ, His only Son, to take our place. We have been redeemed by His blood and forever saved from our sins against God. Many have heard of Jesus but knowing of Him and having a relationship with Him are two different things. We learn that through the word of God.
When reading the Bible, we also gain insight on how to live our lives as Christians in a fallen world filled with sin and brokenness. The Bible explains spiritual warfare and it also givens us instructions on how to fight the spiritual battles that we face every day. When we stand on God’s truths, it’s harder for us to adopt the lies of the enemy. There are so many false teachers and preachers out there that it is difficult to distinguish truth from fiction if you haven’t read the word for yourself. You could get swept away pretty easily when you rely on someone else to read the Bible fore you, which is why there are a vast amount of false doctrine and beliefs surrounding the church. Let the word of God tell you what it says.
When I was a new convert, I was so hungry for God that I read anything that claimed to be about God. I watched a lot of YouTube sermons and followed a lot of so-called Christian influencers to feed my hunger, but what I failed to do was read the word for myself. That mistake led me to believe a lot of the lies that are floating around the Christian community. Don’t make the same mistake I did. I am very thankful that I went, and still attend today, a church that preaches truth. I was able to, through the help of the Holy Spirit, learn the difference fairly early on in my salvation. I encourage you to find a church like I did, if you haven’t already and make sure you are readying the Bible for yourself as well. Also, pray through your Bible reading. Pray that God would bring revelation and understanding, that He would meet with you where you are and minister to you heart. Something that I plan to implement this year is writing out a prayer regarding the scripture that I read. If that is something you are interested in doing, I encourage you to do so. I also do a lot of Bible journaling that helps me apply some of my interests in drawing and note-taking to growing my relationship with God.
Thank you so much for taking a moment out of you day to support my blog. I’m very excited to see what all God has in regard to this ministry in the coming months. Feel free to join me along the way, I would greatly appreciate it. If there is a topic that you would like to explore, if you are interested in Bible journaling, if you would like prayer, or for whatever reason, send me an email at support@biblebreadcrumbs.com. I would be happy to hear from you! Thank you again for reading, God bless you!
